I left from Winchester, VA at 11:30 am with the idea of making it to Chicago that day. I made it to South Bend, Indiana (about an hour or so outside Chicago). Did you know that Notre Dame is in South Bend? I had no idea. The drive from Winchester to South Bend was really pretty. I was so happy to be on the road, windows down, music up. Gorgeous day outside (actually, sunny enough that I got a pretty bad sunburn on my arm just from being in the car.), and my route to I-70 took me through a small town on memorial day. For anywhere that isn't warm all the time, Memorial day marks the beginning of the summer (and Labor day is the end.), so it was nice to see people getting out and enjoying the holiday and the weather.
I love to drive. I love how my problems get left behind in a blast of speed and wind. It's so relaxing, and it centers me. I'm so glad I decided to do this.
